This design is taken from an ivory white panel of silk damask, over-worked with black work embroidery typical of the English style, circa 1554, in the V&A Museum. It shows the controlling lines of an Eastern Arabesque influence which
bears witness to England’s increasing interest in the affairs of a widening world.
