Product Details
Trefoil leaves and curling stems
Design 40 places four three-lobed leaves diagonally around a small four-lobed centre. Each larger leaf has a short stem pointing inwards, drawing attention towards the middle of the tile.
Between the leaves, slender paired stems curve towards the corners and end in small leafy flourishes. Four separate dots sit near the middle of the tile’s edges.
The photograph shows buff-coloured decoration against a dark grey-brown background. This illustrates one colour combination.
A balanced decorative inset
The complete pattern fits within one tile, making Design 40 useful as an individual inset among plain geometric tiles. Repeat it in aligned rows to create a regular arrangement of leafy motifs and scrolling outlines.
For a quieter floor scheme, space the decorative tiles apart and use a simple surrounding border. Check the colours, dimensions and thickness of all adjoining pieces before finalising the layout.
For period property restoration, compare the four trefoil leaves, small central quatrefoil and separate dot details with the original pattern.
Genuine ceramic encaustic construction
Contrasting coloured clays form the decoration, which extends below the surface of the ceramic tile. This is genuine encaustic construction rather than a printed encaustic-effect finish.
Colour options
Alternative colour combinations are available by enquiry. The traditional palette includes red, buff, black, white and oatmeal. Please contact us to discuss colours for your chosen design or to coordinate with an existing floor.
