Victorian Encaustic Rosette & Leaf Scroll Floor Tile – 6 Inch, Design 51

Eight-petal rosette and leafy corner scrolls

Design 51 centres on an eight-petal flower enclosed by a broad circular ring. Four smaller flower heads extend towards the middle of each edge, while pointed leaves and paired curling scrolls fill the corners.

The photograph shows red decoration against a buff-coloured background. The two-colour contrast makes the rounded petals, circular frame and sweeping foliage clearly defined.

Genuine ceramic encaustic construction

The decorative pattern is formed using contrasting coloured clays and extends below the surface of the ceramic tile. This is genuine encaustic decoration rather than a printed encaustic-effect finish.

Repeating the pattern across a floor

Laid in aligned rows, Design 51 creates a regular grid of floral rosettes. Each tile contains a complete central motif, making it equally useful as a spaced decorative inset among plain geometric tiles.

A simple surrounding border can frame the floral pattern. Compare the colour, dimensions and thickness of adjoining tiles before finalising the layout.

For period property restoration, check the central flower, smaller edge flowers and corner scrolls against the original pattern, as similar designs can differ in these details.

Colour options

Alternative colour combinations are available by enquiry. The traditional palette includes red, buff, black, white and oatmeal. Please contact us to discuss colours for your chosen design or to coordinate with an existing floor.
